(RICHLAND, Wa., September 29, 2014) The joint partnership of RJ Lee Group, Inc. and PBS Engineering and Environmental Inc. (PBS) was awarded a three-year contract by CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company (CHPRC) to provide laboratory analysis of geotechnical engineering parameters for the Hanford Nuclear Site in Richland, Washington. Soil testing performed for the contract will facilitate future remediation engineering studies, hydrogeologic investigations, and placement studies for groundwater monitoring wells in support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s environmental cleanup mission at the site.
This enhanced geotechnical offering will be an expansion of the services RJ Lee Group currently provides through the Center for Laboratory Sciences facility (CLS), which is located on the Columbia Basin College (CBC) campus as a public-private partnership with CBC. Through the partnership with PBS, this RJ Lee Group operated facility will now offer enhanced geotechnical analysis on potential radiological samples beyond what a traditional geotechnical engineering laboratory is capable of providing.
“We are very excited about partnering with PBS in offering this new geotechnical capability to Hanford and beyond. It will broaden and deepen our analytical service offerings throughout the company and improve our ability to offer CBC students a state-of-the-art experience,” said Rich Lee, CEO of RJ Lee Group.
“This is a significant opportunity to support CHPRC and the Hanford site, through our collaboration with RJ Lee Group and CBC, with a core PBS service not previously offered in the Tri-Cities,” said Mark Leece, PBS Principal Engineer.
