(PASCO, Wash., Feb. 18, 2015) The Center for Laboratory Sciences located on the Columbia Basin College campus announced today that it is changing its name to Columbia Basin Analytical Laboratories. This change further emphasizes the expanding partnership between Columbia Basin College and RJ Lee Group. The laboratories, which began operation in 2001, will continue to serve as the West Coast Division of RJ Lee Group, a Pittsburgh testing laboratory.
Columbia Basin Analytical Laboratories specialize in accredited analytical methods as determined by agencies such as the American Industrial Hygiene Association, National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program and Washington Department of Ecology. The laboratories analyze environmental water, air and soil samples for asbestos, metals, organic chemicals and vapors as well as carry out special studies for government and commercial customers to mitigate radioactive hazards in the environment. RJ Lee Group and Columbia Basin Analytical Laboratories also serve as the U.S. representatives for the Austrian firm Ionicon Analytik. Ionicon is the global market leader for proton transfer reaction – mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) for real-time atmospheric organic analyses.
Columbia Basin Analytical Laboratories’ relationship with Columbia Basin College represents one of the first public-private partnerships in Washington State that focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. The college relies on the laboratories as a resource for demonstrating scientific techniques, instrumentation, and procedures, as well as providing students with opportunities for participating in actual research projects.
“With this name change, we look forward to continuing our work with Columbia Basin College and to starting a new chapter in the laboratories’ history,” said Richard Lee, CEO of RJ Lee Group.
