World of Coal Ash Conference (WOCA) Includes Session on ASTM Methods to Classify Fly Ash


Dr. Brian Strazisar, Principal Investigator, RJ Lee Group, Monroeville, Pa., will teach a session on methods to classify fly ash at the upcoming World of Coal Ash Conference (WOCA) short course “The Science of Ash Utilization.” In his session entitled “ASTM/Analytical Testing and Classification of Fly Ash,” Dr. Strazisar will provide an overview of fly ash testing and classification as well as a discussion of the inherent limitations of standard procedures. He will cover the widely used ASTM C311 method which includes physical and chemical characterizations of the ash and evaluation of performance in mortar specimens prepared according to standard procedure. Dr. Strazisar’s session takes place on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00 – 11:45am. The short course, taught by leading experts from academia and industry, is being offered during the WOCA Conference at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville, Tn. and covers basic information about the science and technology of coal combustion by-products.
