Richard J. Lee, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Lee has over 30 years’ experience specializing in forensic problem solving and technology development. He has managed laboratory operations, designed and developed novel electron microscopes, laboratory automation and information management systems, and commercialized laboratory products. Under Dr. Lee's direction, RJ Lee Group has grown from a small group to more than 200 staff across the country. Dr. Lee serves as a consultant to a wide range of industrial and governmental organizations. He has been an advisor to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding laboratory methods for analysis of asbestos, as well as the evaluation of contamination in NYC following the events on 9/11. Dr. Lee has also served on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods to define analytical methods. He has been qualified as an expert witness in state and federal courts. He holds six patents and has published over 200 scientific articles and publications. Dr. Lee earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical Solid State Physics from Colorado State University and his B.S. in Physics from the University of North Dakota.
David K. James
SVP Operations & CFO
Mr. James is responsible for day to day company operations, reviewing financial data, reporting financial performance, preparing budgets and monitoring expenditures and costs. He is also the point of contact for all legal, banking, tax preparation and audits. He has 18 years of professional experience in financial and operations management activities. Prior to joining RJ Lee Group, Mr. James was a director of finance for a city and a regional accounting manager for a company with revenues in excess of $250 million dollars and over 9,000 employees. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from California University of PA and his M.B.A. from Duquesne University.
David R. Riley, Ph.D.
Chief Operating Officer
David R. Riley, Ph.D. is the Chief Operating Officer of the R.J. Lee Group and is responsible for maintaining the company’s operational management systems and ensuring a successful quality-focused operating plan is continuously executed. He works with the CEO, CFO, and key technical leaders throughout RJLG to develop and implement systems strategies, enhance quality control programs, and ensure efficiencies to effectively grow the organization. Dr. Riley has extensive experience in science, engineering and management in laboratory operations, having built and operated 28 analytical and advanced technology laboratories throughout his career. From 2012-2017, Dr. Riley served as a P&L Division President of a Fortune 50 Corporation. From 1994-2012, he worked at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, serving as the Executive Manager of the Nuclear Engineering and Operations Department for six years and in various leadership positions in the Materials Technology Department for twelve years. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry of inductively coupled plasmas from West Virginia University, Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry of high-temperature superconductors from the University of Texas at Austin, and completed Post-Doctorate research in crystal engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
