Metals & Alloys
RJ Lee Group experts define the difference between routine laboratory analyses and meaningful results used to solve client problems.
We apply the science so clients can advance their products.
Matthew J. Perricone, Ph.D. Industry Contact
We have deep industrial roots and a rich history of supporting the metals industry both domestically and internationally. Our experience with stainless steel, copper-based, nickel-based, and titanium-based alloys, and superalloys, serves our clients who range from steel companies to medical device manufacturers, suppliers and end users. Recognizing our expertise, a leading materials technology development company recently selected RJ Lee Group to produce an atlas of duplex stainless steel microstructures for use as an industry reference text.
Advancing Industry's Business
The Automated Steel Cleanliness Analysis Tool (ASCAT), designed and brought to market by RJ Lee Group, allows our clients to evaluate the quality of steel by characterizing individual inclusions with near real-time results. This innovation was recognized with an award by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). ASCAT technology applications include investigations into high-grade steel bar, sheet, and plate, tin products, pipes, tire cord, welding rod, and specialty steels and alloys where control of either natural or engineered inclusions is crucial.
RJ Lee Group is experienced in performing Phase Diagram calculations for specific alloys. These diagrams can streamline and accelerate alloy development efforts and make them more cost-effective for our clients by reducing the number of trial and error experiments. Our scientists use these diagrams to allow manufacturers to fine tune alloy chemistry and heat treatment to optimize an alloy’s properties or to qualify the design mix of product specification.
Turn-Key Analyses
By providing timely and accurate technical support and data interpretation to our clients, we obviate their need for an in-house laboratory. Our scientists identify the best technique ranging from analysis of alloy coatings to delicate etching and cross-sectioning to determine minute inclusions.
