For hydraulically actuated components such as power steering assemblies, minimal particle contamination is essential to the safe operation and life of the end product. RJ Lee Group (RJLG)assisted a leading automotive manufacturer in addressing particle cleanliness levels of power steering systems through the employment of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in the analysis of particle product "rinse" samples. Using CCSEM techniques, information pertaining to the size, aspect ratio, and elemental chemistry was obtained for over 1000 particles. These data was used by our client to evaluate the product assembly line for possible upgrades and product improvements.
