A circuit board producer discovered whitish-green deposits at various locations on one of their PC boards. RJ Lee Group (RJLG) was asked to examine the deposits and determine their composition. The board was visually and optically examined and deposits were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) techniques. Through materials analysis including the pH levels of residue and metallic reaction, the material most likely responsible for the reaction was identified.
