RJ Lee Group (RJLG) conducted extensive community air monitoring during demolition of a mid-rise building near to the World Trade Center that was impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. Our experts developed a monitoring plan, approved by EPA Region 2, and implemented a Work Stop Criteria (10-6 Risk Basis). Direct read instruments were used to measure particulate matter and elemental mercury concentrations of the air at and around the site. Integrated air samples were obtained each day and analyzed for asbestos, metals, dust, and crystalline silica. Results were summarized and reported to EPA Region 2 on a weekly basis.
