The deterioration of concrete subjected to waterfront conditions is affected by many factors creating unpredictability and costly logistical challenges. Through a Small Business Initiative Research (SBIR) grant, RJ Lee Group (RJLG) accounted for the major mechanisms of deterioration to develop a predictive durability model for waterfront concrete for the US Navy. RJLG integrated state-of-the-art concrete forensic technology with a uniquely structured model to develop and implement predictive concrete durability software. The SUMMA model is particularly well adapted to the prediction of the performance of naval waterfront concrete. It is a software development consortium that develops flexible and reliable software applications to assist owners, engineers and concrete producers in the optimum management of concrete infrastructure service life.
