Remediation of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) Sludge and Development of Corrosion Inhibitor Manufacturing Facility

Acid mine drainage (AMD) sludge is corrosive to the environment and its remediation creates economic challenges.  RJ Lee Group (RJLG) has joined with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) for an AMD 2004 grant program, funded though the PA DEP, to devise a strategy to remediate AMD sludge and provide economic relief to the affected regions.  Through research and development, RJLG and CTC have developed a strategy to remove AMD sludge, generate a concrete corrosion inhibitor and construct a plant to process the sludge.  This strategy will reduce the environmental impact of AMD sludge, lengthen concrete life with a commercially viable corrosion inhibitor product and construct plants that will provide jobs in economically depressed areas.
