Industrial Hygiene - Crystalline Silica Analysis Silicon dioxide (SiO2), or silica, is one of the most abundant components of the earth's crust and can be found in a variety of applications, ranging from glass to concrete. Fine particles of crystalline silica, also known as respirable crystalline silica (RCS), can cause silicosis, bronchitis, or even cancer. In most respects, silica is harmless. However, airborne particles of crystalline silica smaller than 10 micrometers are considered respirable and are potentially hazardous. Download and Print Files |
