Nitrosamines represent an important class of contaminants in air, soil and water environments, as well as in food, tobacco, and alcoholic beverages. Nitrosamines are of special interest because they have been shown to be carcinogenic. RJ Lee Group uses state-of-the-art instrumentation for the analysis of these compounds of environmental concern.

The Thermal Energy Analyzer (TEA) is a highly selective and interference-free detector for N-nitroso compounds. The Thermal Energy Analyzer (TEA) detects N-nitroso compounds on the basis of pyro-chemiluminescence. Sample extracts are injected into a gas chromatograph (GC) operating under a stream of inert gas. The sample constituents are volatilized and separated by
their interaction with the stationary phase of the GC column. As each component exits the column, it undergoes high-temperature prolysis.
