Particulate Matter Analysis

The Clean Air Act requires standards for air quality concerning particulate matter (PM), among other pollutants.  Testing for inhalable coarse particles, PM10, and fine particles, PM2.5, concentrations involves forcing a known quantity of air over a PVC filter.  Experts at RJLG then analyze those filters using gravimetric techniques or perform characterization by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to assess the amount of particulate matter present.
