Operation and management of a work environment requires monitoring industrial hygiene and safety as well as understanding how to correct potentially hazardous situations. RJLG’s unique combination of full-service laboratory capabilities and project management experience qualifies us to provide comprehensive assessment and management services.

RJLG has a long history of technical consulting and service for government agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). RJLG’s laboratory has served as a quality assurance and referee laboratory on a number of EPA programs and has performed the analyses for the EPA’s major study on airborne levels of asbestos in public buildings. RJLG has also participated in the development by the EPA and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) of analytical methods and procedures for asbestos analysis. The EPA requested that Dr. Richard Lee (President of RJLG) personally participate in several projects, including the drafting of the analytical portions of the EPA Asbestos Hazard Emergency Reduction Act (AHERA) regulations governing air sample analysis following an asbestos abatement. Dr. Lee was also a member of the literature review panel for the Health Effects Institute – Asbestos Research (HEI-AR) program that summarized the existing literature on asbestos up to 1990.
RJLG’s asbestos analysis protocols meet EPA, NIOSH and OSHA requirements for bulk, air, dust and water samples. Specialized protocols can be developed to accommodate the specific client needs. RJLG laboratories are accredited for asbestos analysis by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).
