Comparative Product Analysis

To understand how a material or product performs it is sometimes necessary to break down that product or material into its basic components.  Materials characterization via this “reverse engineering” process provides a unique perspective into function.  Through a variety of analytical techniques, RJLG’s materials scientists are able to examine the structure, chemical composition, and properties of each component to identify the materials involved. Through the process-microstructure-properties paradigm, the impact of various manufacturing methods on part function can often be deduced.

Comparative product analysis is also an excellent way to examine different material lots for consistency.  While materials within the same lot are often expected to perform similarly, any of a number of materials issues may cause lot-to-lot variation in performance.  Because even slight variations can cause a material to fall out of specification, RJLG experts assist our customers with QA services for demonstrating material conformance to lot acceptance criteria, and have the technical experience to contribute to the creation of client-specific material specifications.  Whether the materials are in raw form, somewhere in-process or incorporated into finished products, RJLG can conduct comparative product analysis to provide insight on material conformity or deviations from specification.
