Fatigue Testing

Low-Cycle Fatigue Testing.

RJ Lee Group has developed a method of automating the mapping of the circumferential surface within the gage section of low-cycle fatigue test bars in a scanning electron microscope. The mapping is completed before the bars are stressed so that surface inclusions can be tracked throughout the life of the bar. Inclusion crack lengths and growth are tracked in a database. The end result is a prediction model for determining the finite life of stressed parts in real-life applications. This procedure can also be applied to all other materials such as plastics, steel bars, and ceramics.
