Microstructure Analysis

The performance of materials can be predicted by analyzing its microstructure.  The microstructure contains details about the chemical composition and the constituents of the material.  RJLG utilizes many techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to analyze microstructures.  We have a fully functional metallography lab capable of preparing specimens (grinding, polishing, etching) to reveal the microstructure for analysis. Our staff can provide a variety of information about microstructure including:

  •  Grain size
  • Hardness
  • Phase morphology
  • Phase balance
  • Phase identification
