Component based, service oriented architecture uses a collection of services that communicate with each other quickly and easily.  This approach relies on the reuse of in-house software.  SOAs are applied to business, software and other types of producer/consumer systems (e.g., Federated Architecture) and are built based on a service.  The goal is to achieve loose coupling among the interacting systems, meaning one system can be applied to different scenarios.
