Dr. Boyd Clark is a senior scientist and director of construction materials services at RJLG. He has nearly 20 years of experience as a materials scientist and has conducted investigative studies of a broad range of materials.
Dr. Clark has participated in numerous investigations of concrete members including bridges and piers, railroad ties, parking garages and residential foundations to determine the cause of deterioration. He has also conducted studies to determine thermal effects on concrete and metal building systems.
Dr. Clark led the development of a new product designed to prevent corrosion using chemical inhibitors. He designed sampling programs and reporting systems for monitoring of crystalline silica in the mining industry and has conducted products tests for worker exposure. He has studied cementitious systems for inclusion of radioactive and nonradioactive waste from the Hanford Reservation. His evaluation included physical and chemical parameters for long-term containment and solidification of liquid or solid waste components.
Dr. Clark is a member of the Materials Research Institute at Pennsylvania State University as an Adjunct Research Associate; American Concrete Institute (ACI) - Member Responsibility in Concrete Construction Committee, Member Plastering Committee 524; American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) - Member ASTM Concrete and Aggregate Committee C 09. He is also an active member on several subcommittees: Petrography (C09.65), Miscellaneous Tests (C09.69) and Chemical Reactions (C09.26); Member ASTM Cement Committee C 01.
He has published in peer-reviewed literature.
