(MONROEVILLE, Pa., May 5, 2012) Three scientists at RJ Lee Group, Inc., an industrial forensic laboratory and consulting firm headquartered in Monroeville, PA, co-authored an article on the integration of nanotechnology that will be published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Nanotechnology. Dr. Kristin L. Bunker, Senior Scientist, Ms. Julianne Wolfe, Manager of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Services, and Dr. Linxian Wu, Director of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Services, wrote the article, entitled “Integrating Nanotechnology into the Life Sciences: Lessons Learned.” It will be published in Volume 5, Issue 1 of the journal, which is internationally circulated on a quarterly basis and provides coverage of issues relating to pharmaceutical sciences.
The article presents specific examples of nanotechnology uses in the life science industry, using examples to explain challenges in nanotechnology integration and the solutions to those challenges. It addresses key issues pertaining to nanotechnology integration as it applies to pharmaceutical standardization, safety considerations, quality control, and sample preparation and analysis. The authors conclude that a lack of standardization among the nanotechnology community is of particular issue, explaining that the scientific community must work together to establish such standards.
